Andreas "Andy" Schumacher

WHAT HAPPENED SO FAR?

1995 – Born in Stuttgart. Sometimes brags about being a Schwabe, although technically he isn’t.

1997 – Moves to Gummersbach, his future hometown – which locals like to describe as “near Cologne.”

2012 – Starts making videos as German Ginger Production with his friend Marvin. Together they even build their own DIY camera gimbal and win the Paulaner Cup des Südens video competition in 2013.

2014 – Graduates from Grotenbach Gymnasium, convinced that Abitur wouldn’t be necessary for his career plans.

2015 – Spends a volunteer year in West Virginia in a community service program. Wins 3rd place at the Everence Short Film Contest A little proud they mentioned him in the local newspaper. Equally happy they took down the video by now.

2016 – Begins studying directing in Cologne with a partial scholarship. Regrets his modest Abitur ambitions, which cost him a better one. Drops out after three semesters.

2017 – Attends Momentum College, a creative leadership school in Gummersbach (near Cologne).

2018 – Starts studying film editing at Filmuniversität Babelsberg. Also moves to Babelsberg (near Berlin).

2019 starts volunteering in the church media team at Lukasgemeinde Berlin.

2022 – Moves to his favorite Kiez in Berlin and, together with his roommate, founds a shared apartment community called Schönhauser Schlingel.

2023 – Completes his Bachelor’s degree and continues directly with a Master in film editing at Babelsberg Film University.

2024 – Gets engaged to Elli, the love of his life.
